another serious result from our warehouse rummaging! si begg is a man of many musical personalities, his list of aliases is impressive to say the least (bigfoot, buckfunk3000, lenny logan, s.i. futures, zygmunt janowski...). but one of his oldest, and certainly one of his strangest, is cabbage boy. in fact i confess i am old enough to remember his releases in the early 90s on cassette tape under the umbrella of the >cabbage head collective< (which also included such techno notables as cristian vogel & tim wright) - and pretty mental they were too. the lost tapes vol. 1 doesnt disappoint on that front, containing such gems as a remix of 80s pop mysteries frank chickens>we are ninja<, and an electronic cover version of >king kong< by frank zappa (ask your parents...). totally out there, but totally cool at the same time...highly recommended to anyone looking for something with some real personality amidst the hard-drives full of faceless (and usually nameless) digital fluff
hot on the heels of her last feel good smash these times, comes kimaras latest jammer far away, with two very distinctive remixes, the first by distant musics jon cutler. one might think we picked jon because of his coincidental label/song title relation, but one would be wrong! we picked jon because his superb production skills. the man behind the worldwide triumph its yours, as well as many others, brings a good bit o bounce to the dance floor on this remix. his lush piano chords, funky percussion, and synth zaps are a perfect bed for kimaras strong vibrant vocals to lay upon. he also turns in a truly slick dub for those looking for a bit less vox. for those looking for more tech, one of our favorite new dance producers out of japan, hideo kobayshi, slings us with a tougher, warpier punch (and dub) that ll get hearts and feet movin in synch.
new from the cali duo king & hound super tight re edits of new wavers japans life in tokyo b/w fifty second streets twice as nice another new wave club hit from back in the day (huge at the paradise garage). another quality release. mastered at the legendary fantasy studios.

two slammin instrumentals from mr. ferrer grace this new double a sided ep of tracks from his forthcoming full length. this ep again showcases dennis diversity and distinct ability to go from uplifting spiritual deepness to hot, underground, deep, danceable, head nodding tech. >transitions< has that repititive synthy bassline with latin claps and afro styled percussion and gargled vocal sample. >destination< starts off with slapping rhythms, adds strings and middle eastern flavors then throws in parisian styled accordions. he meticulously assembles all these sounds and creates a smooth seamless boundary defying sound
i get deep, i get deep, i get deeper. that should actually read he gets deep. dj roland clark, that is one of the rulers of the sermonizing vocal, roland steps up to the pulpit once again with his latest release, black in my soul, on king street. this man not only has black in his soul but also an excellent sense of humor, including the ability to work it into his productions, and thats something we all have time to appreciate. swedish producer extraordinaire tiger stripes pumps us full of his dark fuel creating an intricate, nicely rhythmic and dancefloor dramatic track. his dub vox retains its deep and dark stature but twist synths rolands voice into a fiendish narrator. west coast producer david hernandez funkifies this tune on his deep west mix but keeps the deepness well intact. say it loud and dance proud!

the king unique/junior revival continues on curfew with one of the biggest tracks of 2001, remixed and refreshed for its 08 comeback. aah yeah… >obscene, dirty, filthy, immoral<, a chant that echoed across clubland throughout that year of tribal beats, dark >waaaarp< noises and danny tenaglias dj booth torch-antics. but fuck the nostalgia and get these two superb remixes in your lbag
king roc of two armadilloses solo release #3 on his own label. the b-side called >flows 1&2< is a upbuilding cynical tech-house monster with a super arrangement and an orgasmic string-drive breakdown. on the flip you will find a cool dramatical tech-house track and a nice ambient cut
bastian heerhorst, also known as fukkk offf brought the heat at the end of 2007 with electro hip hop stormer >im a freak< which gained huge support from djs and clubs across all genres and time zones. he is back for summer 08 with a three track monster called >rave is king<. if you wanted more after >im a freak<, then youve got it. the a-side kicks off with the single for which the e.p. is named and it starts out with a computer voice chanting >neon lights, party people, revolution, rave is king< backed by a maximized electro basslines straight out of 2008. the flashback comes in after about four minutes taking you back to 1988 with piano stabs from when rave was only a young prince. next up is >rock paper scissors< which is quite simply a monster builder that only gives you rare glimpses of a release. on the b-side things take a decidedly darker turn with >black phantom< another beast with menacing organ grinds and horror movie vocal snips. dark, pounding and relentless, >rave is king< brings you the full view of the royal court of fukkk offf

played by sebo k, karotte... layo and bushwacka! are equally at home turning out summery housey affairs as they are peak time stormers, and >now is the time / the time was then definitely fits into the latter category. a double header, the loose concept behind the release is to represent the sound of the dancefloor now versus the sound from a few years ago. >now is the time< has its feet placed firmly in 2008 - a crisp, clean techno bassline, topped by hand claps, snatches of breathy female vocal, and full of an irresistible array rattles, whooshes and other indefinable sounds that the duo seem to pull from the depths of their imaginations. it breaks with some simple electronic sounding chords and a stirring martin luther king sample that makes this record so memorable. >the time was then< is based around that same sample, but gives a cheeky nod to a few years back, with a bassline and keys that wouldnt have sounded out of place on their seminal ‘night works’ album. it never goes too far towards nostalgia, though, and either would rip up a late night dancefloor
yet another cheeky edit from san frans golden goose label. this time its imaginations burnin up that gets the new edit, giving it a new dubby exterior, while the flipside finds the units gem, high pressure days, given the same dubby treatment.
with king fu, the dutch dj/producer and label owner alexander koning has already explored several new forms of nowadays minimal techno and house. after releasing music from wellknown artists like mateo murphy, jeff bennet and nicholas bacher, the fourth part on konings king fu catalogue presents a brand new track from the haarlem based producer himself, along with remixes from upcoming stars darko esser and shur-i-kan
hinode’ is a tribute and farewell to our favourite club, yellow in tokyo. we’ve played some great gigs there, six or seven hours in the dark with eight hundred people and one strobe light – perfection. endless saki in the bar, obligatory stalkers (“93!” and hedgehog girl step forward please), smoke and heat on the dance floor. finally emerging deafened and sun blinded into the brilliance of saturday mid-morning in tokyo… backing up the original is an exceptional remix from our favourite techno genius - fergie.
this release comes with supreme artwork by seb godfrey following the artwork of their first release. all tracks are very unique in their own way. from deep upbuilding detroitish techhouse to subtle electro and smooth, very intelligent modern electronics. all together we are very pleased to present this package of just good new music.
respected uk remixer and house producer charles webster rips into one of the most played tracks from dennis ferrers hailed album the world as i see it. how do i let go started out as a soulful r&b tune but charles turned it inside out. on his club mix, charles removes the soulfulness and injects a more electric lounge flavor. his deep mix is just that, a profound pumpy, warped & heady affair. both mixes put a whole new twist on the single and are ripe for the early or late set.
remixes from the upcoming remix album entitled night blossom features the pasta boys rendition of where the music takes you, and the rurals and king streets own tomo inoue take on stay as you are. this is a must have to your 2008 collection!
